Cheerleaders

On October the thirteenth, excitement was high,
A score of girls lined the gym wall.
One by one - the jumps were complete.
The judges picked ten to form an elite.

The successful girls, in short, pleated skirts -
Cheering for players spattered with dirt -
On the sides of football fields, shivering stand,
Thinking red flannels would feel mighty grand.

There's Sally, the leader of 'us five' who are left.
And Pauline who once was of balance bereft.
Suzanne, Dayle and Elaine are energetic too:
We all work like 'SPARTANS' to lead cheers for you.

Although all of our teams deserve our applause,
We're most proud of our Bantams, chiefly because
They never faltered nor failed in their diligent fight,
To bring home the Vict'ry cup one snowy night.

With the end of a season, a lively sports reign,
Came a sale of tickets for the 'Old Boys' Game'.
And thus we leave, to practice more,
So that at the Tri-School Meet Port Hope will SCORE! SCORE!! SCORE!!!
