Another Great addition. I remember being bussed from the west end to the new Kindergarten room. Lining up for cod liver oil pills appears to be the only thing else I remember about that year. :)
I went to Dr. Powers school between 1964-1970. I remember when the girls stayed on one side the school for recess and the boys were on the otherside of the playground. We went in separate door from the boys. I remember the codliver pills and remembered it didn’t taste too great if you left it in your mouth too long.
I was an English boy who sang in the church choir back in England and Mrs Trenum. Spelling maybe wrong. Had me do the old age home circuit circa 1975. Is she still alive and around. She was very influential in my life. A solid to the point teacher. Knewthe truth and was passionate about what she thought was right. Mrs Maltby was her 1st married name.

1951 to 1955 I remember throwing my cod liver oil pill across the room. The girl behind me told on me and I had to go sit on the bench with “Jimmy” the classroom bad boy. Cried all the way home with shame and embarrasment. I loved Miss Ferguson, Miss Pluto, and Mrs O’Neill.
I attended Dr. L.B. Powers School from 1969 to 1972, before moving to Rothesay, New Brunswick, where I stll live.
I was born in Port Hope in 1959. My Grandfather was a costodian at Powers. He was helping some students with a hall mural and took a heart attack. It took his life. His name was Albert Hill. My mom was Alberta Jane Hill. They used to live at 183 Walton Street beside ‘Mann’s Shoe Store’. I visit Port Hope often..was just there on Labour Day.
I vaguely remember Mr. Hill who was the custodian at Powers.
