I found it quite interesting what John Hall had to say about stacking the pea vines and then farmers taking the pea vines to make a stack of pea ensilage to be fed to cattle. I can remember my Dad Harvey getting pea vines from the canning factory on Cavan St. and building a stack south of the Dairy Barn with The 88 Oliver tractor that had a Loader on it and feeding the pea ensilage to the Dairy cattle …… also we found out that if we fed the cattle the silage too close to milking the smell would get on the milk … of course we soon heard about this from Erve Downey at Port Hope City Dairy where we shipped our milk … so we had to feed the cows then after we did the milking…….. wonderful stories from John Hall.
