Form News

As an exciting school year draws quickly to a close, we all recall many of the happenings that took place in that famous form 10A.
After purchasing books and other equipment we were ready, willing , able and determined to work feverishly. (We were?).
October brought, along with our only form party, a big success, the elections for class representatives for the various school organizations.
Bonnie 'Basketball' Burley proved to be a wise choice for the Girls' AA Rep, as the volleyball team emerged as the champion of the grade 10.
Richard 'Tex' Pragnell (host for our form party) was the boys' choice for athletic services; but as yet we have not heard of any victories.
Let us hope that Pete wasn't as late getting to the Students' Council meetings as he was rushing in for morning announcements. Well Pete...?
In the way of athletes 10A is way out in front. Les, Bud, Richard and Robert (Flower) Vlug left us often to take their places on the mighty lineup for the football team.
Although we were not the champions on Field Day, we gave the other classes a tough battle. Among our stars were Paul 'Crow' who was the runner-up for the Junior Boys' Championship.
Came January and basketball was the word. Once again Robert, Les and Bud (Official Scorer) were excused early on Fridays to play the other teams and win (of course). Paul and lan also did their work on the champion Bantam Team. Congratulations boys.
But wait! We had better give some mention to the girls. Bonnie Burley, Sue Armstrong and Suzanne Finnie took an active part on the Junior Girls' Basketball Team, getting their share of spills, fouls and glory.
Elaine, along with Suzanne, were cheerleaders who could be found chanting cheers between classes.
Don't worry music students, your achievements could never be forgotten! Such famous celebrities as Pete, Richard, Suzanne, Bonnie M (famous Violinist), BonnieB, Les, Elaine, Mary (silent type), Sue Kershaw and Sue Armstrong (the two chatterboxes) could be found playing their instruments at assembly each Monday.
From our class many joined the Glee Club including Doreen, Beth, Pete, Marlene, Carol Gay (who wishes the teachers would tie a string around the desk pad so they wouldn't lose it. Hah) and others.
A new private class was started in 203 with Cathy as teacher to Liz and Marilyn. The lesson - the tricks of Pig Latin. No one as yet has been able to unriddle their strange manner of speech - but then they don't want us to learn.
Gloria, Loretta, Carol Ann, Donna, Judy, Marie and Beth (who wished the desks had swivel seats so she could have turned around and talked to Sue) wanted peace and quiet to reign in Latin so they could have finished their homework (last night's that is). Oh well, such is life in 10A.
We hope those who have left us, Sandra, Stephen and Linda (because of illness) will always remember the past year with us (how could they forget?) and that Francis will finally become used to our quiet class.
We must not forget on looking back, Ted and his chess board (he still claims to be champion); lan, Joey and Preston in 104; the three musketeers, Gloria, Sue T and Marie, who still won't tell us why their bus is late all the time; Doug a part of the gruesome twosome; and lastly Alan, the debater.
My but we must not leave out our home room teacher Mrs Roberts who declares that someday we will hear those 3:30 announcements.
And so I leave with this review of the class 10A of 1959-1960.
